US President Donald Trump has announced the withdrawal of the National Guard from the democratically governed cities of Chicago, Los Angeles and Portland. This is happening even though crime has fallen sharply “through the efforts of these great patriots in these cities, and only because of that,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social online service on Wednesday.
