In his New Year’s speech, Polish President Karol Nawrocki highlighted Poland’s invitation to the G20 summit as a symbol of economic progress and the beginning of a new development era for the country.
In his first New Year’s speech in office, Polish President Karol Nawrocki said 2026 will be a landmark year for Poland, as the country will participate in the G20 summit for the first time. He emphasized that the invitation to the community of the world’s largest economies is the result of long-term efforts of the Poles and a symbol of recognition of their economic progress. According to him, Poland’s participation in the G20 must be the beginning of a new stage of development, security and a better life for citizens, reports the Warsaw correspondent TASR.
Nawrocki recalled that last year the voters clearly expressed their will for change and for the return of the citizen’s voice to the center of public affairs. He added that he considers the performance of the presidency to be an obligation, not a reward, and that regardless of political differences, he wants to unite society.
He pointed to help for women
The President called for building a modern, just and solidary state that will serve all citizens. According to him, a strong Poland must not leave the sick, pregnant women and mothers without help. “Being a mother, a Polish mother, is a reason for respect and pride,” he added.
According to him, in addition to education, schools should also develop patriotism and responsibility towards society. “The real power of the state begins every day at the kitchen table of every Polish family,” he emphasized.
In his speech, he also emphasized the need to build a modern army to guarantee the country’s security. “Peace costs something, but war always costs more,” he said. He added that only an economically strong Poland can afford effective defense capabilities. In the end, he denied citizens courage and unity in efforts to develop the country.
