Palmeiras made Marlon Freitas official as the first reinforcement for the 2026 season. The midfielder signed a three-year contract with the Alviverde club, therefore, a contract until 2028.

The transfer was completed quickly after Verdão presented a proposal of 6 million dollars (approximately R$33 million) to Botafogo, holder of 90% of the athlete’s economic rights. To make the agreement viable, Marlon gave up the 10% that belonged to him, allowing the entire amount to be passed on to the Rio club.
Marlon Freitas should receive just over R$1 million per month at Palmeiras, according to journalist Jorge Nicola. At Botafogo, his salaries were around R$600,000.

At 30 years old, Marlon Freitas arrives to compete for space mainly as a second midfielder, a position that currently has Lucas Evangelista and Andreas Pereira. He can also play deeper, as the first man in midfield, although marking is not his main characteristic.
