
The second round of the presidential elections began this Sunday at eight in the morning, when the polls opened to define the new head of State between the candidates Iván Cepeda and Abelardo de la Espriella. A total of 41,421,973 citizens, both inside and outside the country, are eligible to vote. The national registrar, Hernán Penagos, gave the official opening of the day from the Plaza de Bolívar in Bogotá. President Gustavo Petro also called for voting conscientiously and called for calm: “After voting, I ask you for maximum tranquility and wisdom,” he said.
