Preview of a song by Marília Mendonça inspired by Billie Eilish is released

One preview of the song by singer Marília Mendonça (1995-2021), “Você Fez Me Odiar o Carnaval”was released this Monday (4). The posthumous release of country music made noise on social media in 2021, inspired by Billie Eilish’s hit, 24, “Happier Than Ever”.

To announce the announcement, the Queen of Sorrow’s social media accounts recalled some on Twitter made by the singer that make reference to the American artist.

In the year of her death, Marília performed a version of “Happier Than Ever” in voice and guitar, declaring herself a fan of Billie.

At the time, fans commented on the similarities between the two artists.

“You look like her. The letters suffered since you were young and the fact that you don’t care what people think of your physique from the beginning… You are incredible women”, was one of the comments made on Twitter.

Posthumous releases

After the singer’s death, the posthumous album “Decretos Reais” was released — with tracks recorded in lives made by Rainha da Sofrência during the covid-19 pandemic and the hit “Leão”, a song that reached the top of the list of the most listened to songs on Spotify Brasil in ten years of the platform in the country.

According to data provided by Ecad (Central Collection and Distribution Office) to CNNMarília has 345 musical works and 482 recordings registered in the collective management of music database in Brazil.

In an interview with journalist André Piunti, the singer’s manager, Wander Oliveira, more than 200 tracks will be released over the next 20 years.

It should pay off by 2092.

Due to the copyright of their productions, following Law No. 9,610/1998, the term of protection for these rights is 70 years, counting from January 1st of the year following the author’s death. In the case of Marília, these years were counted from 2022.
