Even in the opposition’s sights, the vice-leadership of the Lula (PT) government should not be left in the Senate, as far as the Planalto Palace is concerned. An assistant to the president says that the senator, who is also leader of the PDT, has always helped the government in Congress. Removing Weverton from office, he continues, would only leave him even more exposed.
In December, the PF (Federal Police) appointed him as the “political pillar” of the scandal at the INSS (National Institute of Social Security) — giving (Mixed Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry), starting next month.
After the operation, in December, federal deputy Alfredo Gaspar (União Brasil-AL), rapporteur of the commission, told Sheet that the senator needs to testify. Weverton denies the PF’s accusation and claims to be calm. According to him, his innocence will be fully recognized.
