Alckmin talks with China’s vice president about bilateral trade

The acting president, Geraldo Alckmin (PSB), spoke by telephone with the vice-president of the People’s Republic of China, Han Zheng, this Wednesday (28). The call lasted approximately 30 minutes and discussed topics on the bilateral agenda.

Alckmin expressed concern about the safeguards adopted by China on Brazilian beef exports. The acting president highlighted the relevance of the livestock sector for the Brazilian economy and emphasized the importance of the topic for the Brazilian government.

According to a note from Palácio do Planalto, the leaders celebrated the 8.2% growth in bilateral trade in 2025, which reached a new annual record of US$ 171 billion (around R$ 890 billion).

Alckmin invited Han Zheng to come to Brazil to hold the next meeting of Cosban (Sino-Brazilian High Level Commission for Concertation and Cooperation), on a date to be agreed by the two countries.

The leaders also talked about investment opportunities in both countries, with emphasis on the areas of infrastructure, technology, innovation and sustainability.
