São Paulo beat Flamengo 2-1 on Wednesday night (28), in the first round of the Brasileirão. At MorumBis, in the capital of São Paulo, the visiting team took the lead, with a goal from Carrascal, in a play that featured a beautiful assist from Pedro, with his chest. Tricolor Paulista turned around with Luciano and Danielzinho.
How was São Paulo x Flamengo
Flamengo had control of the ball in the first half at Morumbis. The Rio team sought to put pressure on the home team from the start of the match, and had the best big chance in the 13th minute, when Carrascal, after a masterful pass from Cebolinha, one of the highlights of the first half, shot wide as Rafael left. São Paulo gave the answer five minutes later, with Luciano. With 68% possession of the ball, Rubro-Negro had eight shots, compared to three from Tricolor Paulista.
On the visiting team’s side, Plata had a series of errors in the first half. The mistakes left coach Filipe Luís angry, who complained to the Ecuadorian.
Second half
Flamengo came back from the locker room dictating the pace. Thus, he scored the goal in the ninth minute, with a beautifully crafted play. From a standing position, Alex Sandro crossed to Pedro who, with his chest, passed the ball to Plata, who gave Rafael a little touch. Before the ball rolled, coach Filipe Luís called Arrascaeta and Jorginho, who made their debut this season.
The red-black happiness, however, lasted a short time. Ten minutes later, Luciano left everything the same, when he got the better of an aerial play against Léo Pereira. In fact, this was the striker’s eighth goal in duels between the teams.
The Tricolor’s winning goal came in the 25th minute. In Marcos Antônio’s cross, which interests Rubro-Negro, Pulgar was unable to clear the ball and made a mistake in the interception, leaving Danielzinho free to score. Until the end of the match, the home team tried to close the box.
In the last move, Plata and Arrascaeta had great chances to leave everything equal, but they didn’t take advantage. At the end of the game, Flamengo players went to complain to referee Wilton Pereira Sampaio about a possible penalty for Arrascaeta during the play. Jorginho received a red card for the complaint.

São Paulo’s next match is for the Campeonato Paulista. Soberano faces Santos on Saturday, at 8:30 pm (Brasília time). Flamengo will go to Brasília, on Sunday, to face Corinthians in the Brazilian Super Cup.
