At least two federal agents involved in Saturday’s fatal shooting of a US citizen in Minneapolis have been placed on administrative leave, two US outlets reported on Wednesday.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said the two ‌immigration agents who ‌discharged their weapons during the incident with Alex Pretti have been placed on leave as part of standard procedures, ‌Fox News reported.

MS NOW previously said that the officers involved in the Pretti shooting were being placed on leave, citing an unnamed source.

DHS representatives could not immediately be reached to confirm the reports.

On Saturday, immigration agents fired several shots at Pretti, a critical care nurse who worked at a veterans’ hospital. His death was the second fatal encounter between Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents and U.S. citizens in Minnesota this month, sparking a national outcry.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection said it is reviewing the shooting.
