PSOL asks Conar for action against Nunes’ green campaign – 01/29/2026 – Panel

Federal deputy Ivan Valente (-SP) and former PSOL president Juliano Medeiros sent a representation to Conar (National Advertising Self-Regulation Council) against management propaganda () about the planting of trees in the city of . Called “SP Mais Verde”, the campaign is one of Nunes’ main actions in the environmental area.

For, marketing has no support in reality, and municipal management omits concrete data on tree planting.

“Such practices fall within the concept of potentially misleading environmental advertising (greenwashing), repeatedly rejected by Conar, which has understood as unethical the use of environmental data without technical proof, without adequate contextualization or with the omission of relevant information capable of altering the perception of the consumer or citizen”, both say, in the legal document.

Conar is a body linked to the advertising market that regulates the reliability of advertising pieces.

More specifically, the authors of the action state that the city hall “extrapolates environmental and climate impacts, suggesting a direct, immediate and linear correlation between absolute numbers of tree planting and reduction in urban temperatures.”

They ask for methodology, technical indicators, scientific studies or territorial details to be presented by the city hall.

Another accusation is that Nunes’ propaganda “uses generic and simplifying environmental appeals, capable of misleading the public regarding the magnitude, limits and real effectiveness of the actions disclosed.”

The parliamentarian and the former PSOL leader ask Conar to establish an ethical analysis procedure for advertising pieces, request the city hall for data and methodology used to support the campaign and identify those responsible for designing the pieces.

They also require that, if irregularities are identified, the pieces are corrected or suspended.
