Bruce Willis was never aware that he was suffering from dementia. She stated his wife Emma Heming Willis on the Conversations with Cam podcast, as reported by People magazine. The Deathtrap star was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia in 2023.
“Bruce never, really never noticed. I think it’s both a blessing and a curse – he never noticed that he had this disease, and I’m really grateful for that. I’m really glad he doesn’t know.” claimed Heming Willis.
The 47-year-old model, who has 13-year-old Mabel and 11-year-old Evelyn with the actor, explained that Bruce suffers from anosognosia. It is a condition where the brain cannot recognize its own health problems, which often occurs in people with neurological or psychiatric diseases.
“It’s a condition where the brain can’t recognize what’s going on, so you feel like it’s normal. People think it’s denial, that you don’t want to go to the doctor and say, ‘I’m fine.’ But in reality, anosognosia comes into play. It’s not denial. It is because the brain changes. That’s part of the disease,” Emma added.
