After a statement from () the day before, saying that “one thing is gratitude, recognition, loyalty, another thing is submission”, the governor of , (), stated this Friday (30) that supporting the former president (PL) does not mean being submissive.

President of the PSD and Secretary of Government and Institutional Relations in Tarcísio’s government, Kassab made the comment on Thursday (29), after being asked about the governor’s relationship with the former president. Kassab then stated that Tarcísio’s gestures of recognition and gratitude to Bolsonaro were very important, because this would show character, but that it was essential for him to have his own identity.

“It is essential that he has his identity. One thing is gratitude, recognition, loyalty, another thing is submission,” he said. “I believe he [Tarcísio] think so too.”

This Friday (30), Tarcísio said that he has “absolutely nothing to do with submission” and, regarding Kassab, he stated that the party leader has “his own opinions”.

Tarcísio’s statement was given after the delivery event for the restoration of the Júlio Prestes station, the starting point of line 8-diamond of metropolitan trains. He was asked at a press conference about Kassab’s speech and his relationship with the former president.

“He is an important national leader and speaks as a national leader within what he believes. […] He is the person who has his own opinions, and no problem either”, said the governor, who reaffirmed Kassab’s alignment with the state government’s guidelines in his role as secretary.

As for Bolsonaro, Tarcísio stated that he has “absolutely nothing to do with submission.”

“It’s easy to stay on your side when the person is doing well. It’s difficult, and sometimes you don’t have that much in politics, to extend your hand when the person is in the worst situation, when they need your help, when the person has lost power, when the person is deprived of their freedom”, he said.

Kassab, in turn, also stated this Friday (30), that he did not speak of submission in the relationship between Tarcísio and the Bolsonaro family.

“It was the opposite. The person asked me if he was submissive, I said I wasn’t submissive. He [Tarcísio] He is a person who has character, who knows that recognition is important, whether in personal life or in political life, and that his gestures are correct, they are appropriate for someone who was a minister and was launched and supported in this gubernatorial campaign. Therefore, this alliance, this partnership, this recognition is more than correct”, he said, at an event at Arena B3, in the center of São Paulo.

In the interview the day before, Kassab stated that Tarcísio legitimately “has the intention of running the country one day” and needs to “show that he has his identity”.

“And identity means being of good character, it has to be evidently recognized, it has to always be showing the importance of former president Bolsonaro in his career, in his election as governor, but it is fundamental that he has his identity. One thing is gratitude, recognition, loyalty, another thing is submission. I believe that he [Tarcísio] think so too”, continued the leader.

On Thursday (29), the governor of São Paulo, known as Papudinha.

Tarcísio stated that he maintained a “very close relationship” with Bolsonaro, despite tensions with Bolsonaro supporters that led to the cancellation of the visit the previous week. “There were some issues of interpretation from others, they are natural, some noises that happen. But there was never any disharmony”, he said.

He reaffirmed that he is seeking re-election as governor and that he will combine São Paulo’s strategy with his group’s national strategy, with “absolute and total alignment” with the PL.

Kassab said that it would be a privilege to be part of the São Paulo government ticket as Tarcísio’s vice-president, he said that he supports the politician in the state election and that it is up to him to decide on partnerships to seek re-election as governor.

This week, the governor of Goiás, , announced that he left and joined . With this, the party now has three presidential candidates: in addition to Caiado, the governors. (Paraná) and (Rio Grande do Sul).

Kassab has already stated that he would support Tarcísio for governor or president. This week, he stated that even in this new configuration, there would be no point in maintaining a PSD candidacy with Tarcísio seeking the Presidency, adding that, in this case, “it would be a union of forces, and the PSD would be together”.
