AL: leader of Bahian faction dies in police clash during operation

The leader of a criminal faction operating in the city of Ibirataia, in the south of Bahia, died this Saturday morning (31) during a confrontation with security forces during Operation entitled Pau D’Arco, in the municipality of Flexeiras, in the interior of Alagoas.

According to information from the Public Security Secretariat of Bahia (SSP-BA), the suspect, identified as Caíque Ramos de Sousa Azoline, known as “Sampa”, was being investigated for involvement in drug and weapons trafficking, homicides and money laundering.

The man was on the run from Justice and was located by teams from the Integrated Force to Combat Organized Crime (FICCO) in Bahia, with support from the Military Police (CIPE Central), the Civil Police (9th Coorpin and DT of Ibirataia) and security forces from Alagoas, including FICCO-AL and BOPE.

During the action, Caíque and two other members of the faction reacted to the police approach and there was an exchange of gunfire. The three were hit and helped, but did not survive their injuries. Also according to the secretariat, weapons, ammunition and narcotics were seized at the scene.
