A Acre Military Police forwarded to ContilNet a note explaining the circumstances surrounding the closure of an establishment during Operation Collective Shield, carried out between January 31st and February 1st, in Rio Branco.
According to the corporation, police intervention was necessary to contain attacks and ensure the safety of inspectors during Operation Collective Shield/Photo: Reproduction
According to the corporation, the operation included inspection actions by the SEINFRA and other municipal bodies, with support from the Military Police restricted to ensuring the safety of the teams involved.
According to the note sent to the ContilNetseveral establishments were inspected, fined and, when necessary, closed in a peaceful and orderly manner. The PM reported that there was only one change in public order: Slope Tabacaria.
Also according to the Military Police, the establishment was previously closed due to not having an adequate physical structure to hold events, in violation of Municipal Law No. 2,273/2017 and technical standard NBR 9050, mainly due to the lack of accessibility items, such as adapted bathrooms.
PMAC reported that, in the face of resistance to legal orders and attacks against military police officers — including contempt, damage to public property, disobedience and resistance — police intervention was necessary to guarantee the safety of inspectors, the agents themselves and third parties.
The use of an instrument with less offensive potential, according to the corporation, occurred in a timely, proportional manner and within legal protocols, with the aim of containing aggression and reestablishing order. Those involved were detained, underwent medical evaluation and were taken to the police station for appropriate procedures.
The Military Police reinforced that its role in the operation was in support of municipal inspections and followed current legislation.
