Llorca censures the PP councilor who insulted Sánchez at a rally in Teruel, but will not expel her from the party | News from the Valencian Community

He president of the Generalitat, Juanfran Pérez Llorca, has censured the behavior of the councilor of Vallanca (Valencia) Belén Navarro during an event of the socialist party held in Teruel, but has valued her “immediate reaction” when apologizing and with this he has assured that he considers the matter “settled” and will not expel her from the party.

At a moment when there was silence during Sánchez’s speech at the rally, the woman was clearly heard shouting “son of a bitch!” Later, she was recognized as the councilor of the small town of Rincón de Ademuz with 128 inhabitants, located about 50 kilometers from Teruel.

Llorca has recognized that “what happened yesterday by a PP councilor was not correct” and is “the antithesis” of what he believes politics and respect for institutions should be. “There is no need to insult anyone, nothing is achieved, and I reproach and recriminate that,” he said, when asked about this issue, at a press conference this Monday at the Palau de la Generalitat, after meeting with representatives of the associations of those affected by the coastal demarcations.

That said, he also noted that just yesterday the popular mayor, “as soon as she realized the mistake she made, apologized, asked for forgiveness, told the party about it and conveyed her mistake.” In this sense, Llorca has asked to take into account his “immediate reaction.”

Questioned about whether the PPCV has contacted the councilor to reproach her for her behavior, Pérez Llorca has indicated that the general secretary of the party, Carlos Gil, “spoke with her” after she had already “sent a letter of apology” and it was disseminated. And she pointed out that she could not do it personally because of “the amount of insults” she received.

“I don’t share the policy of insults and polarization, I think it doesn’t take us anywhere. We reproached her for her attitude, she apologized and the matter was settled,” the head of the Consell specified. Finally, when asked if the PP has asked the councilor to resign, the president She has confirmed that she is not and that she is not going to be expelled from the party either. “Yesterday that was claimed by the PSOE, the same party that did not take the complaints of harassment of its members to the Prosecutor’s Office,” he replied to the socialists.

In his opinion, “you cannot have so many criteria at the same time”: “The PSOE has pardoned embezzlers, now it is considering pardoning the Attorney General of the State, people who have committed crimes, who have been convicted by a final sentence.” However, he has advocated for “polarizing less” and has insisted that the behavior of the PP councilor “was not appropriate.”

For their part, from the PP of the province of Valencia, led by the president of the Provincial Council of Valencia, Vicent Mompó, they point out that the councilor who insulted Sánchez is “an affiliate of the Popular Party, a resident of Vallanca, who was outside the Valencian Community in a strictly personal capacity and who, like any citizen, spontaneously expressed her political opinion on the actions of the current president of the Government.” Sources from the provincial PP emphasize that the councilor “has already offered the appropriate explanations and has apologized, recognizing that her behavior was not appropriate.”

Common front for the boundaries

On the other hand, the Consell and the associations of those affected by the demarcations and regression have made a common front to demand solutions for the Valencian coast that put an end to this problem, which has been “aggravated” in recent years by storms with strong impact, the last of which Harry.

Faced with this situation, it has claimed the need to implement the regional Coastal Law, has demanded “fair treatment” for the Valencian Community and has appealed to “dialogue” with the Government of Spain. This was conveyed in this way by the president of the Generalitat, Juanfran Pérez Llorca, to representatives of these groups in a meeting held this Monday at the Palau de la Generalitat, which was also attended by the third vice president and minister of Environment, Infrastructure and Territory and Recovery, Vicente Martínez Mus.
