The president of the Chamber of Deputies, Hugo Motta (Republicanos-PB), said this Monday (2) that the agreement between Mercosur and the European Union will be approved by the Brazilian representation in the Mercosur Parliament (Parlasul) by next week.
The calendar, signed in agreement with the president of the Brazilian representation in Parlasul, Arlindo Chinaglia (PT-SP), also foresees that in the week following Carnival the agreement can be voted on in the plenary.
Afterwards, the text will need to pass through the Senate before returning to the Planalto Palace for the agreement to be internalized.
“I have no doubt that this matter will unite all the parties in the House, regardless of whether they are opposition parties or the government’s allied base, because it is a country matter. It is a state matter. It is a matter that is important for the Brazilian economy”, said Hugo Motta in the plenary.
