The administration (Republicans) spent R$28.9 million on teaching material in which it stated that the (1939-1945) happened during the 1950s.
The amount paid by the government was informed in a request made by state deputy Emídio de Souza (PT), who received the complaint in October 2025 in his office from a teacher in São José dos Campos (SP).
As the Panel showed, the incorrect information was contained in geography material aimed at the second year of high school, distributed by Seduc (Secretariat of Education of the State of ).
“In the 1950s, Europe was the scene of a major conflict, the Second World War”, says the incorrect excerpt of the material entitled “Globalization and world economy”.
“The countries highlighted on the map fought on opposite sides of the conflict, but after its end they were forced to face a new world order with two great powers: the USA and the USSR.”
At the time, Seduc stated that it had already determined the rectification and updating of the text.
