Russia stated this Wednesday (4) that the war in Ukraine will continue in its current form until Kiev fully accepts the terms imposed by Moscow for a ceasefire.

The inflexible stance was communicated by spokesman Dmitry Peskov, who conditioned the end of the conflict on Ukrainian surrender to Russian demands.

According to Peskov, the conditions for peace include the full concession of the Donbas region to Russia, the freezing of the current battle lines in the provinces of Zaporizhzhia and Kherson, and the establishment of security guarantees that permanently exclude the presence of forces or NATO countries on Ukrainian territory.

Negotiators meet in Abu Dhabi to negotiate peace

The declaration comes at a critical moment, on the eve of a in the United Arab Emirates. The expectation is that the talks will seek a path to resolving the conflict and ending almost four years of war.

Several rounds of diplomatic talks between the parties have failed to reach an agreement to end the deadliest conflict in Europe since World War II, which began with the Russian invasion of Ukrainian territory in February 2022.

“Another round of negotiations began in Abu Dhabi with the objective of achieving a just and lasting peace“, published on social media the head of the Security Council, Rustem Umerov, who leads the Ukrainian delegation.
