The president of the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPI) of the National Social Security Institute (INSS), senator Carlos Viana (Podemos-MG), assesses resort to coercive driving if businessman Daniel Vorcaro, dono do Banco Master do not attend the deposition scheduled for February 26th.

This Tuesday, the 3rd, the senator responded to a request from Vorcaro’s defense and postponed the testimony that was scheduled for this Thursday, 5th, for after carnival.

“The CPMI may decide to bring him under coercive conduct. It will get much worse if on the 26th what we agreed with the defense doesn’t happen, which is to send the police to look for him at home, since we already have authorization from the Federal Supreme Court for him to come”, said Viana in an interview with CNN Brasil this Wednesday, 4.

It’s time for your Vorcaro to start talking. I was very firm with the defense so that he started talking to 254 thousand retirees who had discounts through his bank without confirmation of origin. In other words, the INSS transferred the money to Banco Master”, he said.

“We want to understand from Mr. Vorcaro, where did he get this card from, was this transfer to the INSS republican or did it have political favor? During this period, the people who complained that they were being deceived, in what ways were they assisted? This was put to the defense, who even showed great willingness to bring him in if I agreed to the postponement”, he added.

Viana also highlighted that the objective of the INSS CPMI with the testimony is restricted to clarifications on discounts considered irregular and that the commission cannot advance on other aspects of the financial institution’s operations. “I would love to investigate Banco Master’s entire relationship with the financial market, with institutions linked to the government. But I can’t do that, my CPMI constitutional limit ends with irregular discounts. Our relationship with Daniel Vorcaro and Banco Master are the 254 thousand contracts he had in hand”, stated Viana.

Also on Tuesday, the president of the INSS CPMI was with the minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) Dias Toffoli to deal with issues related to Banco Master. According to the parliamentarian, Toffoli assured that he will authorize Daniel Vorcaro to travel to Brasília to give a statement to the commission.

Viana also stated that the minister committed to releasing access to the banker’s breaches of confidentiality as soon as the Federal Police completes the consolidation of the data, a stage that, according to the senator, should be completed between two and three weeks.
