WD wants to accelerate hard drives to SSD levels

Classic hard drives (HDD), in which a read and write head moves over magnetized disks, are of little relevance to private users. Modern PCs and notebooks now feature solid state drives (SSD) based on flash memory as standard, which score points with a more compact form factor and significantly faster performance. HDDs are usually only used as storage for music, videos and backups. Converted to their capacity, they are significantly cheaper, especially given the current massive increase in the price of memory chips.
