Ice may form in central and eastern Slovakia. In some districts of the Prešovský and Košice regions, fog must also be expected. The Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMÚ) has therefore issued warnings of the first level valid until 10:00 a.m. He informed about it on his website.
Meteorologists predict a rare formation of ice in the entire Košice and Prešov regions, as well as in the districts of Banská Bystrica, Brezno and Revúca. The warning also applies to the entire Žilina Region, except for the Turčianske Teplice district. They emphasized that the ice is a potential hazard for human activities. “The occurrence of ice is common at the given time of year and area, but may cause minor damage,” they said.
They warn of fog in the districts of Gelnica and Spišská Nová Ves and in all districts of the Prešovské region. SHMÚ expects the occurrence of fog with visibility of 50 to 200 meters here. “Reduced visibility poses a potential hazard for traffic activities,” meteorologists added. They also noted that the occurrence of fog with the above visibility is common at the given time of year and area, but can cause damage of a smaller scale.
