Bolsonarists bet on Flávio until 2034 and see Nikolas as successor

Behind the scenes, the group evaluates errors, missed opportunities and builds a script that goes through Flávio and Nikolas

Senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) is seen as a viable name for a future dispute

Allies of former president Jair Bolsonaro, heard privately by this column, have praised the performance of federal deputy Nikolas Ferreira (PL-MG) during the so-called Walk for Freedom. Behind the scenes, some even risk that the Minas Gerais parliamentarian will emerge as a potential candidate for the Presidency of the Republic in 2034.

In the assessment of congressmen close to Bolsonaro, the governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), lost a political opportunity by resisting the former president’s invitation to join the PL. For these interlocutors, that would have been the ideal moment for Tarcísio to place himself more explicitly on the presidential board.

With senator Flávio Bolsonaro (PL-RJ) seen as a viable name for a future dispute, Bolsonaro supporters believe that the ex-president’s eldest son could reach the Palácio do Planalto, seek re-election and, subsequently, pave the way for Nikolas Ferreira as the group’s political heir.
