There was also a request from deputy Beto Pereira (PSDB-MS), who cited the central role of the INSS in ensuring social protection for workers, retirees and pensioners. The congressman stated that, despite this mission, the authority was affected by fraud schemes that resulted in unauthorized discounts on benefits, mainly affecting low-income policyholders. In the request, Beto Pereira mentioned data from the institute itself that indicates that 28.68 million beneficiaries receive up to 1 minimum wage per month and cited investigations that estimated billion-dollar losses from irregular discounts, in addition to millions of complaints already registered. For him, the testimony of the INSS president is essential to clarify the extent of the irregularities and the measures adopted to repair the damage caused to the insured.
