Medical report released by the STF this Friday (6) reveals the former president’s daily life in the 19th PM Battalion, including diet and exercise
Between reading books in the morning and watching sports programs on television in the afternoon, former president Jair Bolsonaro detailed what his days have been like in the “General Staff Room” of the 19th Military Police Battalion (the “Papudinha”), in the Federal District. The information appears in the medical report from the Federal Policethis Friday (6) by Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF).
According to the report given to criminal experts, Bolsonaro’s routine starts early: he wakes up around 5 am, but usually only gets out of bed at 8 am. After breakfast and personal hygiene, the former president dedicates his mornings to reading books.
The afternoon period is reserved for rest. After lunch, he rests for about 20 minutes. The rest of the time is occupied watching sports programs on TV and talking to military police responsible for the external custody of the accommodation. At the end of the afternoon, Bolsonaro takes an approximately 1 km walk, under escort.
To experts, the former president stated that the only meal provided by the prison unit that he accepts is breakfast, consisting of chocolate milk and bread with butter. Lunch and dinner are brought by family members and basically consist of rice, beans, a protein (beef or chicken) and salad. During breaks, he consumes cakes and cookies, also brought by visitors.
Regarding his emotional state, Bolsonaro said he tried to remain balancedhighlighting that the biggest concern is for his daughter, stepdaughter and Michelle Bolsonarohis wife. The former president highlighted that he receives visits from a pastor and a physiotherapist once a week. The report concluded that the former president’s clinical condition is stable, but that he has chronic illnesses — such as sleep apnea and high blood pressure — that require continuous monitoring.
Bolsonaro is held in custody in a General Staff Room measuring 38.5 m²which includes a bedroom, private bathroom and pantry, as well as air conditioning and access to an outdoor area for sunbathing.
Report points out that Bolsonaro does not need to be transferred from ‘Papudinha’
The Federal Police report pointed out that Bolsonaro could remain in “Papudinha” even while undergoing treatment for illnesses. The document rules out the need for transfer to a penitentiary hospital or house arrest. According to the document, the former president’s clinical condition is stable.
The expertise was requested by Moraes after Bolsonaro was transferred from the Regional Superintendency of the Federal Police to the General Staff Room at the 19th Military Police Battalion, located in the Papuda Penitentiary Complex, in Brasília. The minister removed the confidentiality of the document and gave five days for lawyers and the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) to comment.
On Wednesday (4), the former president’s defense once again requested house arrest, citing worsening health conditions. “It got worse in the last few days, with the emergence of emetic episodes and a severe hiccup,” he stated in the application.
Experts confirmed that Bolsonaro, aged 70, has comorbidities, such as high blood pressure, obesity, sleep apnea, clogged arteries and reflux. However, the report states that all of these conditions are under control, whether through medication or the use of equipment such as CPAP (for apnea).
The exam also denies more serious diagnoses suggested by defense doctors. The PF says it found no evidence of bacterial pneumonia, iron deficiency anemia, depression or sarcopenia (loss of muscle mass).
Despite denying the transfer, the report recommended adaptations to the cell to avoid further accidents, such as the installation of support bars in the bathroom and corridors, as well as emergency bells and continuous physiotherapeutic monitoring.
