The landing approach to Nuuk is already magnificent. Anyone heading towards the Greenland capital on Air Greenland’s only long-haul aircraft will get a view of snow-capped mountains and icy fjords. You should walk carefully across the runway on the way to the airport terminal, because in the winter months Greenland greets travelers with black ice. The Grödel or Spikes should also be a daily companion when walking through the city. Most bars even have their own chairs at the entrances and exits to protect your soles against the ice.
