The parents of the minister of the (Superior Court of Justice) Marco Buzzi of sexual harassment reported the case to his wife hours after the episode, according to testimonies and messages presented to the Court which the Sheet had access.
According to the messages, the immediate reaction of the judge’s wife, Katcha Buzzi, was to be incredulous at the news. “I don’t know what to say. I would never imagine this,” he said. “It’s difficult, it ruined my life.”
The 18-year-old girl, her father and her mother gave a statement to São Paulo, which is investigating the case which, according to the family, occurred on January 9, at Estaleiro beach, in (SC), where Buzzi has a house.
Katcha, in a note to the report, stated that, “contrary to what is said, the published messages demonstrate my disbelief, with the record that such accusations would not be possible even in my worst nightmares.”
“We have 43 years of a solid and respectful family union. I reaffirm that my three daughters and I are firm in supporting my husband as we do not believe in the veracity of these accusations.”
The young woman and her parents stated that, upon leaving the sea, she ran to the house where they were staying. He told his father in detail what happened, who, in turn, called his mother and informed her.
They left the house immediately and, in the car, the father decided to send a message in the group that the two couples maintained, explaining the reason for leaving. The family was friends with her and, according to the young woman’s statement, she saw the minister as a “grandfather and confidant” until the episode. The magistrate is 68 years old.
The young woman’s father told the police that she was “extremely shaken, crying continuously and showing despair” after telling the story. He also said that, after hearing the story, he calmed her down, asked her to pack her things and take a shower, because they were leaving.
The mother stated that, after her husband looked for her, she went to the young woman, tried to calm her down and helped her pack her bags. She also stated that she made an excuse to leave the house, saying that her mother-in-law had had an accident, but that Buzzi asked if the problem was with her mother-in-law “or with the girl”, in reference to her daughter.
According to the mother’s testimony, she told the minister that he knew what he had done. The conversation via app, in which the young woman’s father reported to the group what was happening, took place between the house and the airport, before returning to São Paulo.
The exchange of messages included a report from the young woman herself, who accused the magistrate of grabbing her in the sea. to the police who managed to get away after some attempts by the minister to pull her away and who he later said that she should be “less sincere”.
Nine days later, the minister’s wife sent a new message to the couple questioning the report, arguing that the young woman had “emotional problems” and “went beyond what was reasonable.” He also stated that, in the 47 years he knew the minister, “I never heard or knew anything like” what was reported.
In the message, the lawyer also said that Buzzi “is a teacher and lives with young people every day” and that there was never what she called “noise of approach” as in the case described by the couple’s daughter.
In a note released on Wednesday (4), the minister stated that “he was surprised by the content of the insinuations published by a website, which do not correspond to the facts”. He also said that he repudiates “any and all conclusions that he committed an improper act.” This Friday (6), he highlighted what he called an attempt to judge and condemn him without investigation.
Buzzi was granted medical leave after the case became public. The STJ opened an investigation to address the issue.
