Extremely dangerous SCAM: Have you received such a message? Beware, they want to extort money from you!

A new wave of dirty tricks is spreading in Slovakia, which the police strongly warn against on the social network. Fraudsters are becoming more and more brazen and attack your feelings and wallets without any inhibitions. The police officers showed a real example of the communication that hundreds of people receive these days. The messages seem innocent at first glance, but their goal is only one – to lure money from you in a subtle way.

How does this dangerous scam work?

The scenario used by fraudsters is based on psychological coercion. The attacker impersonates your family member or close acquaintance in the message. He often uses the argument that he has a new phone number, and then asks you for a so-called “short loan” and sends the account number.

The scammer mainly relies on the fact that your head is full of other obligations and that you send money to the required account without thinking about it in a time crunch. Although the messages come from unknown numbers, the tone of the conversation is deliberately set so that you get the feeling that it is your loved one.

In order not to become the next victim in crime statistics, the Slovak police recommends following the following principles. “The family does not ask for money so that you send it to someone else’s account. If the message pushes for speed, it’s a warning sign. Always verify the person by phone or in person,” they emphasized on Facebook.
