One of the main ones, point guard Jayson Tatum, from the Boston Celtics, may be back on the court sooner than expected after tearing his Achilles tendon in May 2025. In an impressive recovery, the player has already been sent to train with the “B team”, which signals an imminent return.
The Celtics reported this Monday (9) that they sent Tatum to participate in part of the training of the Maine Celtics, a G-League club. This type of situation is common for players recovering from injury.
Boston also reported that Tatum returned to the main squad to continue his rehabilitation process.
The “worst injury in basketball”
Jayson Tatum ruptured his Achilles tendon in the 2025 Eastern Conference semifinals match, against the NY Knicks, in May 2025. The injury is considered the worst for basketball players, who frequently strain their heels when jumping.
The expectation was that Tatum would only return to play in the next NBA season, but, with his impressive recovery, he could return in the coming weeks. The Celtics guarantee that they will not pressure the star to return, remaining cautious in their decision.
Even without their main player, the Celtics are currently in 3rd place in the Eastern Conference and should make the playoffs.
