As a result of avalanches, two more skiers died in the French Alps on Monday, local authorities said. The latest news comes after another avalanche claimed the lives of two off-piste skiers over the weekend. TASR informs about it according to the report of the AFP agency.

A 38-year-old man died in the village of Sainte-Agnès near the city of Grenoble, local police said. The skier he was with escaped without injury.

More tragedies in the Alps

Another man in his 30s fell victim to a large avalanche while skiing off-piste near the village of Montgenèvre, Gap prosecutor Marion Lozac’hmeur told AFP. She added that another person who was with the victim escaped unhurt.

The news of their deaths comes after an avalanche killed two off-piste skiers near Saint-Véran – the highest village in the French Alps – on Saturday. The victims were part of a group of four unaccompanied skiers. The avalanche started on the north side of the Tête de Longet mountain peak.

Avalanches have already claimed the lives of more than 20 skiers in the French, Swiss and Austrian Alps this winter season.
