A 9-year-old boy became a true hero when he called 112 and saved his mother, after she felt unwell at the wheel, in the parish of Malpica do Tejo, in Castelo Branco.
The case was shared this Tuesday by INEM, through a video with the call made by little Rodrigo, who remained calm, explained the situation and gave essential information to the emergency services, while riding in the car with his younger brothers.
The mother ended up losing consciousness, but the child’s quick actions allowed emergency services to arrive in time. The victim was assisted by VMER and the Castelo Branco Volunteer Firefighters and is in good health.
“When life tested the serenity of a boy of just nine years old, Rodrigo responded with courage and lucidity worthy of a true hero”, highlighted INEM, highlighting that his calm and collaboration were decisive.
The sharing took place as part of European 112 Day, with the entity reinforcing the importance of teaching children how to call emergency services.
