Fire destroyed lithium battery factory in Matosinhos

The fire that destroyed a large part of a lithium battery factory in São Mamede de Infesta, Matosinhos, has already been extinguished. The flames raged for two hours and also caused damage to a tea warehouse.

The fire that broke out on Wednesday night in a lithium battery factory in the Centro Empresarial de S. Mamede de Infesta, in Matosinhos, was reported to be under control at 11pm.

There are no reports of injuries.

On Wednesday night, Matosinhos City Council launched an alert for the population near the factory in the Centro Empresarial de S. Mamede de Infesta (FIL Park), in Matosinhos, in the district of Porto.

“Given the nature of the smoke, the Matosinhos City Council advises the population living nearby to: Avoid inhaling smoke; Keep doors and windows closed, especially those facing the public road; Avoid unnecessary travel in the affected area”, could be read in a note on the social network Facebook.

Fighting the flames were more than 50 operationalsupported by 18 vehicles.
