It is as if two parallel worlds have opened up in climate policy. In one, leading international climate scientists published in the specialist journal One Earth on Tuesday an alarming study: Earth’s climate is currently moving away from the stable conditions that have characterized human civilization for thousands of years. “We may be approaching a dangerous threshold, with opportunities to prevent dangerous and uncontrollable climate impacts rapidly diminishing,” the authors warn.
