Public Ministry accused Pedro Turra of causing the death of teenager Rodrigo Castanheira
The Federal District Court decided this Friday (13) to make the 19-year-old racing driver Pedro Turra a defendant. With the decision, the young man will answer for the crime of intentional homicide. He is preventively detained in the Papuda prison, in DF.
Pedro Turra was charged by the Public Prosecutor’s Office on charges of causing the death of Rodrigo Castanheira, a 16-year-old teenager. The fight in which the pilot punched the young man in the face took place in January. The victim spent two weeks in an intensive care unit (ICU) and died on Saturday (7).
At the beginning of the investigations, the Civil Police stated that the attack occurred due to a disagreement over a piece of gum thrown at a friend of the victim. During the investigation, the police pointed out that the fight was premeditated and had the help of the pilot’s friends.
In the decision in which he accepted the complaint, judge André Silva Ribeiro understood that the MP’s complaint exposed the criminal facts in a “clear and precise” way. Furthermore, the magistrate maintained the pilot’s arrest.
“The concrete gravity of the facts, the reiteration of violent conduct and the concrete risks of evidentiary interference require a more rigorous precautionary response,” he stated.
