If anyone still thinks it’s a party just for young people, it’s because they haven’t found the group from the Academia das Idosas do Amidst confetti and marches, they showed that disposition has nothing to do with age – and that joy is the best exercise.
Lúcia, 75 years old, was one of the most lively in the group. Smiling, he said that this is the second year in a row enjoying the festivities with his colleagues. “I really, really like it,” he said, without hiding his enthusiasm. What about when to leave? “I don’t know… maybe I’ll stay a little longer”, he joked.

Behind the contagious energy is the encouragement of physical education professional Fabiano Rodrigues. For him, the example of the students goes far beyond dancing. “No sedentary lifestyle, no staying at home alone. Here it’s just joy. Age is no limit to being happy”, he stated. According to the professor, regular physical activity improves not only conditioning, but also mental health. “It reduces anxiety, depression, increases self-esteem. The best medicine is natural and available to everyone.”
The group, which brings together around 60 women, meets weekly. Valdenora, 65 years old, makes a point of highlighting the role of the teacher in motivating the class. “He encourages us a lot. He goes on trips, parties… it’s really worth it”, he said.
And he left a direct message for those who still insist on using age as an excuse: “Whoever is at home, get out of your sedentary lifestyle and come work with us. It’s all good!”, he concluded.
