Freight train derails in Linz – western route closed for an hour

Linz – A freight train with three empty wagons derailed on Monday around 7.30 a.m. in the Linz marshalling yard on Turmstrasse, as a result of which the western route between Linz and Vienna had to be closed. No one was injured in the accident, the amount of material damage was still unclear, an ÖBB spokesman said. After an hour, the route was reopened for long-distance and local traffic. Investigations into the cause of the accident have begun. (APA, February 16, 2026)
