Carnival served as a political showcase, and it was not just for the party blocks and royalty. Behind the scenes of municipal management, the message was clear, vice-mayor Alysson Bestene already occupies, in practice, the center of the administrative stage, with the explicit approval of mayor Tião Bocalom.
The movement is not random. It is part of a calculated strategy for the upcoming transition, as Bocalom is expected to leave office in the coming weeks to run for governor of Acre. Carnival, traditionally a popular and highly symbolic event, ended up being the ideal setting to demonstrate this gradual transition to protagonism.
In the Urubu Cheiroso block parade, one of the most traditional in the capital, the gesture was emblematic. Bocalom gave up the spotlight and let Alysson and his wife lead the drum opening. The couple became the main focus of the procession in front of a crowd.
The scene was repeated throughout the program. Alysson was present at all the Carnival royal awards. On the night of the selection of the trans and gay queens, he was the one who officially represented the city hall and remained in evidence throughout the ceremony, alongside his wife, Roberta Lins.

In political corridors, the reading is direct, it is a construction of image and authority. It is not just presence on the agenda, but public signaling of command.
Bocalom himself tried to reinforce this alignment in an interview with ContilNet. According to him, management has always been shared, which, in the mayor’s view, reduces any possibility of profound changes in the team when the deputy takes over.

“The synergy that exists between Alysson and I is very great. We won the election together. This team was put together by Bocalom and Alysson, so there is no reason to simply take it away because Bocalom is no longer there”, he stated.
The declaration was not just administrative, it also had political weight. In recent months, there were doubts about Alysson’s position in the state election, as his party, the PP, has vice-governor Mailza Assis as its pre-candidate for government.
But what we see now is a growing sign of political loyalty and strategic alignment.
In the plot summary, the popular party revealed a well-rehearsed political script, Bocalom gradually retreats from the municipal stage, while Alysson advances, increasingly in the role of mayor even before the formal inauguration.
