At least five people died and four others suffered minor injuries in a fire in an apartment building in Catalonia, in northeastern Spain, regional firefighters said on Monday night (16).
Fire Department officials believe all of the victims were young, and some may have been minors.
The fire started in the warehouse of the five-story building in Manlleu, a town of 21,000 inhabitants in the Osona region, north of Barcelona, firefighters said in a statement.
For reasons still unknown, the victims were unable to escape the warehouse, they added. The Mossos d’Esquadra — the Catalan police — opened an investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
The identification of the victims should be completed this Tuesday, as some of the bodies were charred.
