Negotiations between Russia, the USA and Ukraine continue in Geneva, and European advisers are also entering the game

The third round of negotiations between Russia, Ukraine and the United States is taking place in Geneva, which has also been joined by national security advisers from major European countries. The negotiators will also expand the discussion on territorial and humanitarian topics.

On Tuesday, on the sidelines of talks with Russian officials in Geneva, the American and Ukrainian delegations will meet with national security advisers from Britain, France, Germany and Italy. This was stated by a source from the Italian government for the AFP agency, reports TASR.

Meanwhile, the third round of trilateral negotiations between Russia, Ukraine and the United States to end the war continues in the city in the south of Switzerland. According to expectations, the negotiators should also hold talks on Wednesday. The head of the Ukrainian delegation, Rustem Umerov, previously informed that security and humanitarian issues are on the agenda. According to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, this time the delegations are to address a wider range of topics, including issues related to the territory.

The previous two rounds of peace talks were held on January 23 and 24 and February 4 and 5 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. In a second meeting brokered by Washington, Kiev and Moscow agreed to exchange 157 prisoners of war on both sides. The participants described the meetings as constructive, but their concrete results were not published except for the mentioned exchange.

The talks in Geneva are taking place a week before the fourth anniversary of the start of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Tens of thousands of people died in the war, millions had to leave their homes, while many Ukrainian cities and towns were left destroyed, Reuters reminds.
