Even with the escalation of impeachment requests against Federal Supreme Court (STF) minister Dias Toffoli, the president of the Senate, Davi Alcolumbre (União Brasil-AP), has told interlocutors that he does not intend to take any initiative in this direction. According to an investigation by the Folha de S.Paulothe assessment by the House leadership is that the likelihood of advancement is non-existent.
Toffoli currently has ten impeachment requests filed with the Senate. The most recent was presented by the Novo party bench last week. Four of these requests are based on the Banco Master case and were presented in 2026.
Behind-the-scenes reports reported by the newspaper indicate that Alcolumbre argues that opening a case against a STF minister could create an institutional precedent that would be difficult to control. Reading, according to reports collected by Sheetis that the adoption of this measure could stimulate new similar attempts in the future, increasing tensions between the Powers.
Opportunity with security!
Opposition pressure gained strength after the revelation of messages found on the cell phone of Daniel Vorcaro, owner of Banco Master, in which Toffoli’s name is mentioned. Even so, part of the Senate assesses that the minister’s decision to leave the report on the investigation involving the financial institution tends to reduce the momentum for his removal.
A senator close to Alcolumbre told Sheet that the trend is for the crisis to cool down, as long as no new developments emerge. Even among oppositionists there is recognition that there is a movement of institutional containment between the Powers, within limits considered acceptable in the current political environment.
