A passenger recorded the moment a TAP plane almost crashed while approaching Prague airport. The video, to which SIC Notícias had access, shows the discomfort on board at the moment the pilots aborted the landing maneuver.
The incident occurred on January 17, on flight TP1240, operated by an Airbus A320 Neo that was heading from Lisbon to Prague. The aircraft descended abruptly to around 300 meters above the ground when it was still 60 kilometers from the runway. The situation occurred near Krivoklát Castle, in an area with adverse weather conditions, marked by dense fog and poor visibility.
After the premature descent, the approach was stabilized and landing occurred safely about 11 minutes later. The case was classified as serious and is being investigated by the Czech Institute for Air Accident Investigation.
The authorities are already analyzing the data from the black boxes and the airline has also opened an internal investigation, with the pilots being temporarily removed from service.
SIC had access to a video recorded by a passenger on the plane traveling from Lisbon to Prague. The discomfort felt by some of the aircraft’s occupants is noticeable, especially when the pilots aborted the approach.
