The number of new asylum requests presented in the European Union (EU) fell 24% in September to 75,755, compared to the same month last year, according to data released by this Wednesday.
In September, Syrians continued to be the main nationality of new applicants for international protection (14,205), followed by Venezuelans (5,480), Afghans (4,950) and Turks (4,455).
Germany (18,105), Spain (12,510), Italy (11,895) and France (11,535) are the countries most sought after by refugees.

Compared to the same quarter of the previous year, expulsion orders increased by 4% and the number of people returning to third countries rose by 35%, while in the chain variation, exit orders remained constant but departures increased by 13% .
