Meloni-Macron clash over the murder of French far-right activist Quentin Derank

New tension between the Italian prime minister and the French president, on the occasion of the murder of the French far-right activist Quentin Derank.

The Italian Prime Minister, commenting in “X” on the murder of Derank, wrote yesterday that “the death of a young man of about twenty years of age, who was attacked by groups linked to left-wing extremism in a climate of ideological hatred that has spread to a number of countries, is a wound for all of Europe.”

In his statements to journalists from India, where he is making an official visit, Macron, referring to the Italian Prime Minister’s post, underlined: “I am always surprised that”.

Sources of the Italian presidency of the government, for their part, let it leak that the positions of the French president “cause surprise”. According to the same sources, “the Italian Prime Minister expressed her sincere condolences and her sadness for the dramatic murder of the young Kenten Derank and condemned – at the same time – a climate of ideological hatred which is recorded in a number of European countries”.
