Botafogo is interested in signing Iker Muniain, striker from San Lorenzo, from Argentina. The information comes from journalist César Luis Merlo, a specialist in the trading market.
Muniain is Basque and is 31 years old (he turns 32 this December 19th). He is a historic idol of Athletic Bilbao, in Spain, where he played for 15 years. He arrived at San Lorenzo in September and has a contract with the Argentine club until December 2025.
According to Merlo, the player has in his hands “an important proposal” from Botafogo to reinforce the club next season.

Who is Iker Muniain?
Iker Muniain was born in the city of Pamplona, in the region of the so-called Basque Country, in Spain. He debuted for Athletic Bilbao in 2009, without being able to predict that he would become a historic figure at the club.

Characteristics of Iker Muniain
Iker Muniain is a versatile player. Right-handed, 1.69m tall, he can play as a creative attacking midfielder and open on the wings, as a winger, especially on the left side.
He’s not a center forward – so he’s not exactly a goalscorer. He has around 80 goals as a professional. At San Lorenzo, there were three in 12 matches.
Could be a replacement for Thiago Almada.
