The National Cyber Security Council of the United Arab Emirates reported this Saturday that it managed to prevent systematic cyber attacks of a terrorist nature, which aimed to target the country’s digital infrastructure and vital sectors, in an attempt to destabilize and disrupt essential services.
According to state news agency WAM, the nature of the attacks included attempts to penetrate networks, spread ransomware, systematic phishing operations targeting national platforms, as well as the exploitation of artificial intelligence technologies in the development of sophisticated offensive tools.
The security body said the type of attack reflects the qualitative development in terrorist groups’ methods and their ability to employ modern technologies in carrying out their digital attacks.
