Take care of it now. Your lawn will look like in the picture

After the cold months, our lawn, which was recently covered with snow, requires special care to regain its former appearance. Early spring is a key moment for the first care work that will pay off in the following months. Therefore, it is worth knowing where to start so that the turf quickly gains vitality and delights with intense greenery.

If you want to have a well-groomed lawn, it is worth knowing what kind of soil we are dealing with. It turns out that in many regions of Poland, the soil is naturally acidic, which directly affects the condition of the turf. This is due to the fact that acidic soil is an environment conducive to the development of weeds and moss.

At the same time, it makes it difficult to absorb the necessary nutrients. As a result, it becomes sparse, susceptible to diseases and pests, and weakened. Especially after winter, you can notice signs that your turf needs attention. These include: extensive patches of moss, thinning turf, traces of pests and the presence of weeds.

Then it is worth taking action, because such a lawn has a much lower ability to regenerate and has problems with absorbing fertilizers. The best solution will be liming, a treatment that increases the pH of the soil.

In addition, lime improves the structure of the soil and makes the ingredients better absorbed. It also increases the lawn’s resistance to pests and diseases and helps it regenerate and thicken.

Liming is best done in the second half of February and the first half of March, before the vegetation begins. Another acceptable date is autumn, but experienced gardeners recommend doing it in early spring to ensure better results visible at the beginning of the season. This treatment is carried out every 2-3 years, which depends on the type and reaction of the soil.

Before liming, check whether the ground is not frozen and do it only when there is no snow on it. Remember to spread lime evenly on a dry lawn, preferably on a windless day.

After the treatment, it is not recommended to use mineral fertilizers or intensive watering of the grass. Thanks to this, the ingredients will be able to easily penetrate the soil in a few weeks our turf was lush green and thick.
