WTorre VP evaluates construction of the new Vila Belmiro: “Project is ready”

The possible construction of the new Vila Belmiro returned to the center of discussions about modernizing arenas in Brazilian football. The topic was addressed by Marcelo Frazãovice-president of WTorre, during an interview with the program CNN Esportes S/A this Sunday (22).

In the conversation, the executive explained the current stage of planning in partnership with Santos and highlighted that the project is progressing within the company’s engineering and construction areas.

The executive indicated that the planning has already progressed to a more concrete stage within the company.

There is the project, there is the alignment between Santos and WTorre. (…) The project is assembled, it is done and there is now a financial equation, an investment feasibility, a feasibility of revenue sources for you to materialize the work in progress.

According to him, the continuity of the project depends on the definition of this financial equation and the structuring of the arena’s future revenues.

However, the initiative is not yet linked to the arena’s entertainment operation, but continues to be developed within the company’s structure.

“Today this is not about entertainment management, but rather the engineering side, the construction side”, he explained.

Good prospects

Frazão assessed the moment as positive for the stadium market in the country.

The prospects are very good, it is a booming market, it is a market that has enormous potential.

The leader highlighted that the proposal considers specific characteristics of the city of and surrounding Vila Belmiro.

“When you talk about Santos specifically, you have tourism, you have the summer season, you have all the prerogatives and importance of the club for the city, for Brazilian football”, he analyzed.

sand model

During the interview, Frazão explained that the idea involves a space with multiple uses, but without exactly replicating the .

“It’s close, but I would say that it is very difficult to have a replication of projects with realities in very different cities. You have potential in São Paulo, a much larger capital for shows, than in Santos. In Santos you have other potential related to tourism, related to the cruise season”, he explained.

He said the multi-use arena concept remains a cornerstone of the project.

“The concept of having a space that has multiple uses, in addition to football, is common to all these projects,” he said.

Unique project

According to the vice-president, planning takes into account local economic and urban factors.

“So, in fact, you have a very specific study about the location, about the economy around the stadium, about this seasonality in attendance, about what type of event, be it corporate, entertainment, or social, this project can host”, he detailed.

Thus, the project is being made aimed at the public.

You have a job that is very specific to the client, to Santos. There is not exactly model replication in this aspect.
