On the 23rd and 24th of February, Brasília will be the stage for the International Meeting Literacy, Equity and Futurean event organized by the MEC (Ministry of Education) to strengthen educational cooperation on the Latin American continent.

The central objective is to establish a political commitment and a common technical agenda that guarantees the right to literacy for all children at the beginning of primary school, combating regional inequalities.

The debate will be attended by government leaders and experts from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru and Uruguay.

Over the course of two days, the panel program will seek to align a political vision that places the right age as a strategic pillar for the development and common future of the nations involved.

Future of basic education

In addition to diplomatic articulation, the meeting intends to transform it into practical actions. The proposal is to promote an in-depth technical debate, using studies carried out on the continent to generate consensus on the present and future of

The event has a multisectoral character as it brings together national and international political and technical leaders, as well as representatives from Consed, Undime and Consec. The initiative also includes the participation of international organizations, universities, social movements and various civil society organizations.

Intersectoral commitment

The initiative is led by the MEC, via National Literacy Child Commitmentin partnership with UNESCO, ANPED, Associação Bem Comum, Fundação Lemann and Instituto Natura.
