The Basque Jagoba Arrasate has been dismissed this Monday as coach of RCD Mallorca, which occupies the penultimate position in the LaLiga EA Sports classification, one point away from the permanence zone. “RCD Mallorca ends Jagoba Arrasate’s time as coach of the first team. The decision, adopted after an analysis of the sporting situation, responds to the club’s desire to open a new stage with the aim of reversing the current dynamic and facing the remaining challenges of the season with maximum guarantees,” said the Balearic club.
The vermillions fell to relegation positions this weekend after losing on Sunday against RC Celta in ABANCA Balaídos (2-0). With 24 points, they are one of the places to save. Arrasate, 47, took over as Mallorca coach in June 2024, after a long spell with Osasuna, where he managed to qualify for the Conference League and for a Copa del Rey final.
“RCD Mallorca wants to publicly thank the work, professionalism and dedication shown by Jagoba Arrasate and all of his technical staff during his period at the head of the team. His daily commitment and exemplary behavior have always been at the level of what this entity represents,” he indicated. “The club wishes him the best of luck both personally and professionally in his next projects,” concluded the Balearic entity, which has not yet announced who his successor will be.
The one from Arrasate is the sixth replacement this season on the benches after the departures of Veljko Paunovic and Luis Carrión (Oviedo), Julián Calero (Levante), Sergio Francisco (Real) and Xabi Alonso (Real Madrid).
