Civil Defense reported that it maintains daily monitoring of measurements, especially as it is the rainy season in the region, when fluctuations in the river level are common. The agency reinforces that, even without immediate risk, monitoring is essential to anticipate possible changes in the hydrological scenario.
The rise of the river rekindles memories of the flood recorded in January this year, when the Iaco reached 15.72 meters. At the time, dozens of families were left homeless and at least six neighborhoods were affected, requiring emergency action from public authorities.
Authorities advise residents of lower areas to follow official bulletins and pay attention to weather conditions, especially in the case of intense rain in the river’s headwaters, which can directly influence the rise in levels.
