LaLiga announced this Wednesday that the National Second Instance Committee of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) annuls the resolution of the sole competition judge, in which it delegated the powers to the federation itself and not to La Liga after the claim of Real Oviedo, which requested to receive the three points. According to LaLiga, the RFEF “lacks the power to review or declare the ineffectiveness of the decisions adopted by LaLiga regarding the suspension, postponement and setting of dates of the matches of the competitions it organizes.” Therefore, as established by the organization chaired by Javier Tebas, Rayo – Oviedo will play on March 4 at 7:00 p.m.

Last Thursday, LaLiga issued a statement in which it reported that it would challenge the decision, alleging that it went outside the legal framework. “In accordance with this legal framework, La Liga has the exclusive competence to determine and modify the date and time of celebration of the matches of the competition it organizes. The setting of dates and times, as well as any decision linked to them – including the suspension of matches – is part of the organization of the Championship. In this matter, the RFEF does not have review powers over the decisions adopted by LaLiga,” read the statement last Thursday. A week later, the competition receives the powers to decide that the match will be played and the three points will not be given to the Oviedo team.
